I’ve been a member of Derbyshire Scriptwriters since 2004 although I’ve been writing for some years now. I’ve written numerous short stories and poems, some of which have been published here and there and I decided to branch out into writing scripts as well because I wanted to try a medium in which I could write something longer. My first scriptwriting credit was ‘Without Parallel’, a theatrical short performed by Tabs Productions at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield, as part of ‘The Chesterfield Tales’, written especially for the 800th anniversary of Chesterfield’s Market Charter. I was subsequently privileged to have a one act play, ‘Working Out’ selected for inclusion in the Pomegranate’s New Playwrights’ Festival. Although the majority of my scripts so far have been for stage, I am also interested in writing scripts for other media. My short film script, 'Heckle', was produced by Mediaworks Trust whilst another short film, 'Situation Vacant' with Derby Moviemakers, was awarded the Tony Rose trophy and a 4 star award at the British International Amateur Film Festival. My short screenplays 'Let No man Put Asunder' and 'Prying Eye' both reached the third round of the British Short Screenplay Competition with Kaos Films. I gained a National Open College Network ‘Script into Basic Skills’ qualification from Mediaworks in 2005 to accompany the ‘Level Three Creative Writing’ certificate I obtained from Murray Park in 2003.

My new play, 'The Horrific Case of Mr. Valdemar', based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe is on tour this autumn with Rumpus Theatre Company. For details please see www.rumpustheatrecompany.co.uk. My latest short film, 'The Lock-In' will be entering production with Derby Moviemakers in the near future.
